Kokedama is a Japanese form using a Koke (ball) and dama (moss) sphere which contains the plants roots, bundled up with string, soil and moss. This unique form of horticulture creates displays that are truly striking.
Caring for your Kokedama
Watering
Like all plants, your Kokedama will need water, light, and nourishment. The type of plant you have will determine how often you should water your Kokedama.
Ensure the Kokedama has sufficiently dried out
The simplest way to check this is by lifting the ball and gauging its weight. If it feels lightweight, it's likely ready for a drink. Watering only when the soil is dry is crucial, as it helps to prevent issues like root rot, which can be detrimental to your plant.
2. Water
Use a bowl or basin(Like a sink!) to submerge half the Kokedama ball in water.
3. Volume
Fully saturate the Kokedama. This thing should be dense.
The best practice for watering is to allow the plant to fully dry out between watering's, then fully saturate.
Misting
Kokedama balls can also benefit from misting once or twice a week to prevent them drying out too quickly. This increases the humidity and is great for tropical plants.
Fertilization
The best option for fertilization is a liquid feed applied at the time of watering.
Lighting
Your interior light levels form the growth potential of the plant, and good light is the prerequisite for a plant to grow. Most plants will succeed in indirect sunlight. Indirect sunlight occurs when something in the path of light from the sun diffuses or filters the sunlight before it hits your plants. Be sure to check the requirements of the specific plant used, as requirements will differ.
